Distracted by Oreos

Today was one of those days that throws you so far off routine, but in a good way. I woke up with an idea. Usually my best ideas come to me in the shower or while I'm sleeping (no joke, sometimes I can literally plan lessons in my sleep), so it came as no surprise when I woke up with an idea that I needed to make a reality.

I had a friend coming over later, and we were going to get dinner, but I could not stop thinking about this dessert idea that was imprinted on my brain since my eyes opened. I didn't even know what it was called, but kept thinking Oreos...Cool Whip...chocolate pudding...Oreos...Cool Whip. The Google search I embarked on was messy but effective. Within minutes, I'd found what I was looking for.

So I headed to the grocery store and obtained all necessary ingredients.

Later, by the time my friend and I got back from dinner, whipped up the dessert in the kitchen, watched a movie, played games, and went back for seconds, I didn't realize how late it had gotten. I miss losing track of time in the midst of chocolate and laughter. I need to drop out of routine and into spontaneity more often.

  1. I've had lesson plan dreams as well--but never a dessert dream. This sounds amazing--both dreaming about desserts and the delicious treat you made as a result!
