Green at Heart

I scrolled through Instagram when I woke up this morning only to be reminded (and relieved) that today was St. Patrick's Day. The relief stems from working with middle school students and my strong desire not to break up pinching fights.

Sighing, I looked down only to detect pink, purple, and black on my pajamas. Then I thought about changing and realized that would be ridiculous because no one was even going to see me until tonight. No need to worry about getting pinched. Was that my only motivating factor?

As I mulled this over, I eventually gave in because I thought of the smiling little kids decked out in green sparkles and leprechaun hats all over my friends' social media stories from earlier, and this crooner verse ricocheted off my brain walls:

And if you should survive to a hundred and five
Look at all you'll derive out of bein' alive
And here is the best part, you have a head start
If you are among the very young at heart

For my shower, I switched out my towel for the green one in my collection, one of my old college dorm towels. After I dried off, I chose a green shirt and opted for a darker green cardigan. There's no better day for two-tone green, layering the only two fully green articles of clothing I own. I went downstairs and dove into a pan of chocolate mint brownies with fluffy, green icing. I'll admit though, I probably would have done that anyway...

Later tonight, when my mom gave me the choice between Naked Juice flavors, I thought, why not? "Green Machine please!"

Let's be real, it was more fun to go green today. And I hope I still enjoy it if I should survive to a hundred and five.

  1. Ha! Love all your green moments. It would be a wonderful thing to still enjoy the novelties of the greenest day when we are one-hundred five! Indeed it would.
